Just because our political and military leaders sell us the 'just war', it doesn't necessarily mean that those who serve and fly multi-million dollar warplanes are always going to follow the rules. This anti-war piece was originally created in 2005 in the aftermath of the West's invasion of Iraq. Version 2.0 displayed here is a redesign produced in 2023 and in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Peng (n)
Means: A person that is good looking.
Usage: "There's some Peng over there"; "He/she is proper peng."
Unsurping the long-standing champion 'fit' in the overly sexualised playground lexicon, 'peng' has become the go-to word for any savvy pupil looking to publicly display their attraction to a member of their class, school or wider social circle. But don't be fooled into thinking it's a blast of intellectual slang utilising the Chinese symbol meaning 'great accomplishment'. It's actually said to be an abbreviation of the terminally cute aquatic animal, the penguin.
The above illustration was commissioned by LeftLion Magazine and published alongside an open letter to John Lydon written by Miles Hunt. The I Love You Mr Lydon artwork was also selected for inclusion in the Association of Illustrators (AOI) Images 31: The Best of British Contemporary Illustration 2007 annual, along with being featured in an exhibition organised by the Coningsby Gallery, London.

I was commissioned to conceive, design and code an animated website for top London advertising agency Lunar BBDO. The website that once resided at www.lunarbbdo.com was designed to be impactful, combined with an element of fun. The site promoted the agencies client side portfolio and advertising campaigns for some of the world's biggest and well known brands.
The project involved the photography of hundreds of industrial units around the Colwick Industrial Estate in Nottingham. The images were then given colour and texture treatments and separated into their own transparent layers before being animated in Adobe Animate (Flash). Audio and sound played a big part throughout the development of this website and I have to thank Simon Mills of the electronic band Bent for his expertise, help and assistance in making some great samples.
This was a great company to work for and a fantastic commission, the creative team and directors at Lunar BBDO gave me free rein to explore ideas and creative possibilities prior to pitching my concepts and ideas. The journey through the development process was complex yet smooth, I was able to lead the creative process from the onset but was given steer by their excellent team at several junctures along the way. The end result was a website that was raucous, loud and very noisy, it even had a JavaScript function that caused the browser window to vibrate and shake when certain actions were triggered. It was a lengthy but fun project and a great opportunity to work with their campaigns and advertising portfolio and present their business in this fashion.

Below is the Main Page which functioned as the beating heart and control room for the website, followed by the Our Work and Lunar Works sections that would have originally been loaded into a container and overlaid as a transparent layer over the main page.

Working with Andy Hodkin, the director of Disability Awareness based on the Isle of Man, was an incredibly smooth process. He supplied me the images and copy all written up and edited. He knew how to brief too, setting out a clear plan of what needed to go onto each page, along with a clear vision of what he wanted his websites to do and how he wanted them to function - the perfect client!
The website was built using the Expression Engine CMS (Content Management System). The website is built so that the content can be altered and uploaded from any web browser or mobile phone while on the move.
I worked on two websites for Andy's business, the first for promoting his services and consultancy at www.disabilityawareness.co.uk, as well as an ecommerce store enabling buyers to download digital content and guidebooks relating to his area of expertise and subject specialism at www.disabilityawareness.co.uk/store

“........(Ben and Jerry's ice cream) which I enjoy more than I enjoy Walkers crisps which are so bad for me anyway and I really don't need the extra spare tyres around my waist because I already find it difficult enough to squeeze into my jeans but it's so hard being healthy when I am a banana........”
Anna On...Dining
“........I love going out for dinner and I always order spaghetti bolognese it's my favourite because it's got beef which is why I always order meat when I'm on aeroplanes I never order vegetarian because it always has capsicum in it and I'm allergic to capsicum........”
Anna On...Hair Colour
“........who is brilliant (David Attenborough) because he taught me lots of facts about tigers (sic) not living in Africa and that Dr Seuss pronounced his name so it rhymed with rejoice and that Lucille Ball wasn't a natural red head so why why why would she dye it that colour hair should be brown or yellow or black or grey which is not so much of a prejudice as it is a preference like enjoying Ben and Jerry's ice cream........”
Anna On...Illness
“........I'm a severe hypercondriac (sic) which is why I thought I was going through menopause last week but it could have been tonsillitis if I hadn't already had my tonsils removed when I was 8 so I guess it was just a sore throat but a sore throat can really ruin a holiday to New York........”

Anna On...Tans
“........it's my favourite city (Australia..!!) to live in because it's got people who say things like 'you bute' and 'howsitgowin' and it's got the best Chinese noodle house that serves my favourite mushroom chive dumplings and it's got my sister who's got big green eyes and curly hair which makes her look like she's mixed-race but she's not mixed race at all she is a white girl with a good all year round tan not like the tan which I get which is out of a bottle and sometimes makes streaking marks on my legs which get very itchy from the dry air during the winter months........”
Anna On...Teeth
“........it's my least favourite season (winter) because the gas bills are always extortionate and my pocket money doesn't get to be spent on Primark shoes which I already have too many of like teeth which I definitely have too many of at the front but am lacking at the back where I am missing my molars and words of wisdom teeth not that I need them to be as smart as David Attenborough........”
